What you\’ll be doing

Be an effective team member to maximize productivity, quality, and effectiveness. Manage personal objectives to ensure the safe and timely delivery of departmental work, including Construction, Maintenance, Fault investigation/repair, and Defect Management. Support functions related to these tasks.

Identify resource requirements and contribute to capacity planning. Manage interfaces proactively to ensure effective time management and resource availability.

Monitor work processes and output to continually maximize productivity. Strive to expand knowledge in business procedures and system operations.

Assist in statutory obligations by developing solutions and work programs for repairs and improvements, especially concerning environmental regulations.

The role also includes responsibilities critical to the Transmission Network Operations department:

  • Develop expertise in HVDC links, including technical and commercial aspects.
  • Contribute to the development and operation of HVDC stations, including design, commissioning, and operation.
  • Lead maintenance of complex auxiliary systems like HVDC valve cooling, fire safety, building management, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Ensure high health and safety standards, including safety from systems and contractor management.
  • Support environmental goals through operational and management process enhancements.
  • Support marine contracts and surveys; maintain relationships with NGET and JV partners.
  • Develop operational skills, including Senior Authorised Person and Protection and Control, with a focus on HVDC systems.
  • Mentor future trainees within the HVDC team.
  • Assist in managing Substation O&M Delivery and RIIO Health Checks.
  • Support other departments like Circuits and PCM.
  • Coordinate with OCC and planning teams for outage scheduling related to HVDC works.
  • Update SAP/NAMS to ensure data accuracy during the regulatory period.

What you\’ll bring

Knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and practices. Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation, including Fluorinated Gas Regulations. Awareness of network development policies and customer service skills.

Familiarity with network and business data management systems and general commercial and regulatory knowledge. Strong negotiation, communication, and people management skills. Problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of transmission plant standards, specifications, and commissioning procedures.

Minimum Criteria

  • Preferably qualified to Degree/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering HNC or working towards it.
  • Relevant experience in a utility or engineering environment.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, SAP/NAMS.
