Flexible Working Pattern

As Lead Commissioning Manager, you will be key within our project commissioning.

Your primary responsibilities are to assist the Project Commissioning Manager with responsibilities, with particular focus on tender preparation, documentation, definition of strategies, Windfarm and Grid (both Onshore/Offshore substations and export cable) commissioning.

What you’ll be doing

In post, you will be required to assist with:

  • Managing the commissioning process for the project and the individual packages during all stages from the procurement phase until handover to operation and maintenance (O&M)
  • Support different packages tender processes from a commissioning perspective, aligning departmental/business technical specifications to the project specific configuration and evaluating vendors proposals in terms of technical compliance
  • Overseeing, through the commissioning service, all packages commissioning works assuring compliance with the Employer’s requirements and focus on electrical safety, technical due diligence, commissioning readiness, delivery and grid compliance
  • Procuring commissioning oversight and electrical safety services for the project, directing commissioning services Contractors, managing changes to scope, cost and schedule of the service
  • Ensure coordination between the company (ScottishPower Renewables / Iberdrola), different contractors and Transmission (TSO) and Distribution (DSO) system operators with regards to commissioning, electrical safety and operational control of Offshore Windfarm and associated assets
  • Develop and maintain the commissioning process and procedures, including the Project Commissioning plan and packages commissioning manuals
  • Implementing the ScottishPower Renewables Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules (EMSR) in the project, managing all aspects of Electrical safety and support general safety in the project
  • Provide guidance and ensure compliance with local legislations and regulations with respect to commissioning activities
  • Acting on behalf of the company (ScottishPower Renewables / Iberdrola), where requested, as nominated contact point with the Transmission and Distribution system operator for operational control
  • Reviewing and approving the final commissioning as-built documentation
  • Supporting H&S in the management and implementation of general safety
  • Reporting to the project management and business as the project and business dictates

What you’ll bring

Educated to Master of Engineering (MEng) or equivalent, preferably in Electrical Engineering, you will possess a track record of delivery within the Renewables sector and/or Transmission and Distribution industry, including technical due diligence, grid connection concepts and ideally with experience in construction, commissioning and operations of Offshore Wind project(s).

With strong experience in Project Management including planning, budget management, risk and opportunities management and delivery, you will be IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other project software.

Being flexible to travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites, you will hold strong networking, communication, relationship building and influencing skills demonstrated across a range of teams, stakeholders and with senior leadership.

Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, you will be able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and to demonstrate a positive approach to change.
