Role Overview

Craftsperson (Jointer)

Location: Merseyside

Salary: £32,240 – £40,300 per year plus benefits and career progression

Employment type: Full Time / Permanent

We are building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and renewable electricity. Join our team to help meet the challenge of Net Zero across 100,000 km of network and 30,000 substations, benefiting 3.5 million homes and businesses in Scotland, England and Wales.

What You’ll Be Doing

Day‑to‑day you’ll ensure all site works are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policy and safety rules. Duties include cablehead changes, cablehead and substation fuse replacement, fault location, generator deployment/connection, jointing work and issuing/receipting safety documents. You may also assist other trade groups as required. You will plan and carry out work safely, adhere to health and safety procedures, work proactively on own or as part of a team with a confident and enthusiastic attitude. You will demonstrate attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills, delivering outstanding customer service and essential services 24/7/365 to local people and communities. You will be part of a 1:6 standby rota which may vary.

What You’ll Bring

Demonstrable experience and understanding of jointing, testing and fault finding. Experience working within a utilities business is preferable but not essential. Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, as an on‑site representative of the company.

Minimum Requirements

  • City and guilds or NVQ equivalent, and / or equivalent experience (minimum)
  • Employed currently or historically as an electrical cable jointer at one or more of LV, HV, EHV (minimum)
  • Driving licence (minimum)
