Help us create a better future, quicker! The Senior Programme Analyst is responsible for providing a governance that ensures accurate, timely and scalable project investment processes. This will ensure efficient management of financial and regulatory funding, provide the right level of scrutiny, while not compromising on the delay of funds and delivery timescales for projects. The Senior Programme Analyst will be working in conjunction with SPT project and commercial teams to serve as the key management figure for SPT investment governance. They will support the SPEN business interface with key stakeholders, including the SPT Executive Team, Network Policy & Regulation (NP&R) and Control.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Key interface with NP&R, Control and project stakeholders to manage project investment governance by supporting the business in preparation of investment papers and challenging content before this goes forward through the governance cycle
  • Ensure that projects progress through the investment cycle in line with company processes and procedures
  • Track and report on approval and re-authorisation papers and ensure all management systems are updated to reflect agreed values
  • Join and contribute to investment governance forums as required
  • Manage and direct the work of the team of Programme Analysts ensuring the work activity of the team is performed accurately and on time
  • Responsible for the efficiency of processes that govern the administration tasks associated with various systems, databases and spreadsheets used within the budget control process
  • Liaise with the Scottish Power Control Team and project teams to address any queries or challenges over project investment
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues associated with budget control by escalating to necessary technical teams (e.g. COE) and tracking through to completion
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Financial Operations Function by championing lessons learned

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience of financial governance practices within a large industrial or commercial organisation
  • Qualification (HNC or higher) within the field of accountancy, financial management or other related discipline
  • Proficient in the use of business IT applications (experience on SAP and PowerBI/Business Objects)
  • A general appreciation of project management practices and principles
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments, and businesses
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to interact across all levels of management and executive
  • Ability to design new process and governance, while supporting implementation of these across a business unit
  • Understanding and knowledge of energy markets and the regulatory drivers affecting operation of a Transmission Network
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience in dealing with senior management
  • Ability to effectively lead teams and work in cross functional teams
  • Exceptionally proactive nature, with the ability to innovate and challenge in recognition and support of the business model in which SPT is operating

Minimum Criteria

  • Financial qualification (HND minimum) or equivalent experience
  • Experience of financial governance practices within a large industrial or commercial organisation
  • Proven people management experience, with a track record of leading, motivating, and developing high-performing teams
  • Previous experience working in a regulated environment
  • Proficient in the use of business IT applications (PowerBI/Business Objects)
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Proven experience designing new process and governance, while supporting implementation of these across a business unit
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience in dealing with senior management
