Scottish Youth Theatre is seeking a Theatre Director with proven experience and interest in digital performance, emerging technologies and live theatre to support the delivery of Haptic Theatre – an R&D project taking place in Dundee, in collaboration with Abertay University and XR Network.
What does it feel like to absorb the impact of a rugby tackle, wrestle with the pressure of a water cannon or experience the extreme G-force of a Formula 1 car? TESLASUIT technology can simulate all these sensations for training, gaming and full-body learning purposes. So, what is the potential for live theatre audiences? Using TESLASUITS and motion capture technology, Haptic Theatre R&D aims to synchronise the sensations of performers in action with audience members as they witness it.
We’re seeking a Theatre Director who will collaborate with the project team and 2 young adult performers to apply the possibilities of this technology to a live theatre-making and performance context. Haptic Theatre R&D will take place between November 2024 and March 2025.
