We’re on the front lines of making sure Scotland’s water is totally, dependably pure. As a Water Operative working from our Pateshill Water Treatment Works, you’ll monitor and maintain water quality at treatment works and pumping stations.

What You’ll Do

  • Join an experienced team that manages water quality at treatment works and pumping stations.
  • Operate the plant using TOMS procedures, calibrate monitors, filters, tank levels and more.
  • Record water quality data and classify measurements (e.g., pH, chlorine, aluminium, phosphate) as either exceptional or needing attention.
  • Assist with risk assessments and health and safety protocols; conduct regular inspections of plants, reservoirs and dams.
  • Take turns on standby rota for out-of-hours cover.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently; comfortable learning new computer systems.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate recordings and health and safety compliance.
  • An eye for spotting trends and problem-solving with initiative and collaboration.
  • A valid driving licence (van provided).
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems is a plus but not essential; mechanical maintenance experience is a plus but not essential.

Not-So-Small Print

This role is a Grade 4. Starting salary £30,440, with performance-driven progression up to £35,260. Offers are conditional upon pre-employment screening (referencing, criminal record checks, license checks) conducted by a third party with consent obtained before starting.
