Scottish Water is expanding its modelling activities to support the understanding of our Wastewater networks performance. We are looking for a Senior System Modelling Specialist to join our team
About the Role
In this role, you’ll develop, deliver, and promote hydraulic modelling services to colleagues across the business. You’ll be part of a strong, collaborative team that maintains great relationships with key stakeholders and stays up-to-date with the latest industry-leading techniques.
You’ll play a vital part in an exciting and growing team that provides important technical expertise to many Scottish Water capital projects, while also helping to improve our understanding of current asset performance.
You’ll work closely with the Modelling Team leader to support and manage the team’s workload, all while aligning with Scottish Water’s overall vision and goals.
What you’ll do
You will apply a variety of hydraulic modelling techniques to help Scottish Water Delivery intelligence about its wastewater network. You may also be asked to support other business activities such as modelling transformations or research-focused work.
Lead and coordinate projects, ensuring high-quality results are delivered on time.
Take charge of communicating project progress and any challenges clearly with management and other stakeholders.
Successfully manage and deliver work packages and projects from start to finish.
Break down complex business problems and translate modelling results into easy-to-understand insights for colleagues who may not be familiar with hydraulic modelling.
Use InfoWorks or similar modelling software with confidence and expertise.
What you’ll need
You’ll be a team player who helps produce great hydraulic modelling outputs and contributes to the team’s overall success, typically we will expect you to have at least 7+ experience as a hydraulic modeller for this role.
You will work closely with the team leader, asset management colleagues, and others to support business goals and deliver on key requirements.
Provide hydraulic modelling services that meet important business needs and deadlines.
Help improve models by regularly communicating with colleagues, gathering their feedback, and using it to make the team’s work even better.
Create business papers, presentations, dashboards, or tools that clearly explain hydraulic modelling results so they’re easy for others to understand and use.
Support the development and promotion of the Hydraulic Modelling Team’s strategy.
Represent Scottish Water at important industry events and conferences.
Stay up to date with the latest developments in the water industry and academia, and actively pursue your own professional growth.

The normal hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 8am until 4pm. But you’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 7. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £44,030. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £55,000.
