Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Digital Product teams, Data Platforms and external delivery partners to develop and maintain integration standards, reference architectures and reusable patterns that allow Scottish Water to connect systems safely, consistently and efficiently while maintaining strong governance and control.
  • As a senior technical authority you will serve as the organisation’s centre of expertise for Azure Integration Services, shape and evolve the integration strategy, guide complex delivery activity and drive continuous improvement in the maturity, reliability and overall value of our enterprise integration platforms.
  • You will be responsible for defining, owning, and continually evolving the enterprise integration architecture and engineering strategy in line with Scottish Water’s wider digital and architectural principles.
  • You will act as design authority for complex, high‑risk or business‑critical integrations, providing architectural assurance and clear technical direction across programmes and projects.
  • You will develop and maintain standards, reference architectures and repeatable integration patterns across Azure services such as Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, Event Grid, Event Hubs, Functions and, where appropriate, Data Factory or Synapse pipelines; lead the adoption of event‑driven and API‑first integration approaches and define integration guardrails that underpin secure‑by‑design engineering practices.
  • In support of a centralised integration platform capability you will help delivery teams build integrations quickly while maintaining governance, monitor and report on platform health and reliability, and identify and address technical debt, resilience gaps and other platform risks to safeguard long‑term sustainability.
  • Close collaboration with Cyber Security will be essential to ensure all integrations meet required security, compliance, identity management and public sector obligations.
  • You will mentor engineering and architecture communities and engage senior stakeholders to articulate architecture decisions, trade‑offs and associated risks.

Qualifications

  • Senior integration professional with extensive experience in Azure Integration Services; proven background in designing and delivering enterprise integration architectures across Azure services (event‑driven, API‑led, message‑based).
  • Demonstrated understanding of secure and resilient integration engineering practices and development of architectural standards, strategies and reusable patterns.
  • Experience as a technical authority on complex integrations, influencing and guiding delivery teams across organisational boundaries, and communicating technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑driven technical leader exercising sound judgement within governance frameworks while enabling continuous improvement.
  • Experience within regulated environments, critical national infrastructure or the public sector highly advantageous.
  • Significant experience in enterprise‑scale integration architecture and delivery (design and operation of Azure Integration Services, API governance, event‑driven and messaging architectures, secure integration patterns, observability and monitoring for distributed systems, DevOps or CI/CD practices relevant to integration engineering).
  • Experience of integration patterns, event‑driven architecture and enterprise messaging frameworks also desirable.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as Azure Integration Services Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Developer Associate or DevOps Engineer Expert will be considered an advantage.

Benefits

  • 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays) with the option to purchase five additional days.
  • Paid time off to volunteer, flexible working arrangements, and support for major life events such as adoption, maternity and parental leave.
  • Pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Annual company bonus and access to SW Splash rewards programme.
