Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps, or what happens to their wastewater. Scottish Water does. We are looking for a Water Operative to work from our Katrine Water Treatment Works and help ensure Scotland’s water is dependably pure.
Responsibilities
- You will join an experienced team that monitors and maintains the quality of water at our treatment works and pumping stations.
- Your responsibilities include calibrating monitors, filters, tank levels and more, recording water quality data, and sorting readings into ‘exceptional’ and ‘needs attention’ based on pH, chlorine, aluminium and phosphate levels.
- In addition, you will be responsible for regular plant, reservoir and dam inspections, handling risk assessments, maintaining health and safety protocols, and rotating on the standby rota for out‑of‑hours cover.
Qualifications Required: strong communication skills, confidence working independently, attention to detail, and the ability to spot trends and solve problems on your own initiative. A valid driving licence is required; a van will be provided. Nice‑to‑haves include knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems, and mechanical maintenance experience.

Compensation
This role is Grade 4. New employees will start at £31,640 per annum, with performance‑driven pay progression up to £36,460.
