We're thrilled to offer a rare opportunity: a part-time (18 hours per week) and fixed term contract-12-months within our Wholesale Billing Team. This unique role lets you make a real impact while balancing your other commitments, giving you the chance to contribute to something vital and truly rewarding.

You’ll be joining a small, busy team, where accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration are essential as we manage billing operations together.

What you’ll do

  • As a Finance Analyst, your primary focus will be on maintaining precise and efficient billing processes.
  • This requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Your main responsibilities will include preparing and issuing invoices to Licensed Providers within strict monthly deadlines.
  • You’ll also investigate disputes and collaborate with various Scottish Water teams to resolve them.
  • Handling queries via phone and email will be a regular part of the role, so effective communication is key.
  • Additionally, you’ll review and streamline processes and procedures to ensure they’re efficient, standardised, and compliant with Scottish Water’s policies and controls.

What you’ll bring

  • We’re looking for someone with confident and effective communication skills and a strong background in customer service.
  • You’ll need the ability to manage complex situations and solve problems analytically, supporting improvements along the way.
  • Being a dedicated team player is essential—you should be comfortable collaborating with others to achieve common goals and open to learning from your colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to prioritise work in a flexible and adaptable manner are also crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard IT packages is required, and a willingness to learn new systems will help you succeed in this role.
  • We value curiosity, so asking questions and challenging the status quo to improve processes is always encouraged.

If you’re ready to step into this temporary role and contribute to the smooth operation of our billing processes, we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll get

  • This role will include some weekend working and standby requirements.
  • You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays).
  • You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.
  • When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave.
  • And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
  • For your future, there’s our pension and life assurance.
  • You can expect an annual company bonus.
  • Access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

  • This role will be a Grade 5.
  • If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £33,951 (pro rata).
  • Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £39,911 (pro rata).
  • Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc.
  • We operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location.
  • If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on the 3rd June 2026.
