What you'll do

  • Your number‑one priority is resolving customer issues. You'll take control of any situation, investigate problems, and come up with solutions that make customers happy – always keeping them up to date.
  • You'll also carry out choke clearing activities on our sewer network and maintenance on sewer network infrastructure, as well as plant, equipment, and vehicle checks.
  • All while putting health and safety first, working to our combined sewer response activities risk assessments and keeping our sites to Chapter 8 NSRWA will be essential.
  • Putting our customers first by keeping any service disruption to a minimum.
  • Accurate reports are essential, so you'll be across reporting systems for measuring performance and productivity.
  • You will generally be working as a single‑man team, and you will participate on a 1 in 5 standby rota for out‑of‑hours work.
  • Full training will be provided before you work on your own or go on stand‑by and, depending on previous experience, you will typically be in training for at least 1 year.

What you'll bring

  • You'll spend some time working alone, so you'll need to be self‑motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team’s goals.
  • Basic IT skills are a must, as you'll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day.
  • You'll need report writing skills too – nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.
  • A full, clean driving licence is non‑negotiable, as you'll need to travel around sites in the Fife, Forth Valley and Perthshire areas.
  • An HGV licence is also essential to the role, but if you do not currently have one, training will be provided for you to gain one.
  • Experience with HGVs and Tachographs (nice to have).
  • Experience using high‑pressure water jetting equipment (nice to have).
  • Understanding of health and safety principles for site working (nice to have).
  • Holding a CPC, CPCS or NSRWA qualification would be great, but it's not a must‑have.

  • The normal hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 8.00 to 15.30.
  • You'll have 38 days of holiday per year (including public holidays) and the option to buy five more days.
  • You can also take paid time off to volunteer.

The not‑so‑small print

  • This role will be a Grade 4.
  • If you're new to Scottish Water, you'll join us on a starting salary of ÂŁ31,640.
  • Performance‑driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of ÂŁ36,460.
  • Note: you may be subject to drug & alcohol testing in line with our policy.
