Each year, we recruit new modern apprentices to work with us, learn new skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification. The Business Administration - SCQF Level 6 programme will be available in 2 departments:
- Customer Services: You’ll work in a customer service team that helps businesses get set up when they move into a property or close their account when they move out. The job involves checking details, keeping records accurate, and making sure customers have a smooth start or end to their service.
- Customer Operations: You will have the opportunity to rotate between two teams within our Customer Operation function. In our Metering and Billing team, you’ll check meter information, update customer accounts, and speak to customers by phone, email, or letter to answer questions and resolve issues. You’ll also work with other teams to make sure bills are correct and sent out on time. In our Credit Management team, you’ll speak to customers by phone and email to discuss payments, answer questions, and agree payment plans where needed. You’ll keep records up to date and support with payment issues that can’t be resolved straight away.
With training, you’ll build strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills that are useful in many careers.
What will I learn?
Our MA Programme offers a real alternative to full-time college or university. By learning on the job, you’ll get to put your skills to the test immediately and with modern apprenticeships being designed to have employers and industries in mind, you’ll receive the best possible training while earning a full-time salary. We’ll give you the support and learning you need to navigate our systems and policies, and to fully understand our business so you feel confident in your role.
Apart from a thorough understanding of the business and water industry, you’ll also learn about the other areas in our business and how we all work together to ensure our collective business goals are met. You’ll be given the tools and support you need throughout your apprenticeship to be confident in delivering an excellent service for our customers. You’ll develop a range of skills including communication, problem solving and team working skills, which will benefit you in your MA role and in future roles too.
Your role as MA will be busy, with no day the same, but you’ll have support every step of the way and we’ll offer lots of opportunities to develop your learning and understanding of the water industry. And the best part, on completion of the MA programme, you’ll gain an SVQ Level 6 qualification.
What qualifications / qualities are required?
To be considered for our MA Programme, we require you to have a minimum of National 5 in English & Maths (or equivalent). This opportunity is ideally suited to candidates who have not completed a higher level qualification (for example, an HNC, HND, or university degree). If you’re an enthusiastic individual who is positive, reliable, enjoys helping others and is keen to learn, we’d love to hear from you.
Please note, your cover letter will also be reviewed as part of the selection process and should cover the following points:
