We are current looking for 2 Auxiliary Inspector\’s to join the team in the Isle of Lewis Western Isles region.

What does an Auxiliary Inspector do?
Our Auxiliary Inspectors deal with many different types of calls relating to animal welfare, and will seek assistance and advice from Inspector colleagues where necessary.
Working as part of a team, Auxiliary Inspectors will beinvolved in regular communication and collaboration with other Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers.
Overview of main duties and responsibilities
- To independently investigate complaints of animal neglect and cruelty as allocated to you from the Animal Helpline, seeking assistance from your Inspector colleagues where appropriate.
- Alleviate Suffering and Distress to Injured/Trapped Animals by assessing the degree of injury/illness if any and take appropriate action
- Provide corroboration during any investigation/case which is being carried out by your colleagues
- Produce high quality witness statements when necessary
- Carry out normal Animal Rescue Officer duties when required
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, the general public, other Society Departments and Branches and the following agencies: Police; Veterinary Surgeons; State Veterinary Surgeons; Procurator Fiscal; Local Authorities i.e. Animal Health Inspectors, Housing Officers, Dog Wardens; Coast Guards
