Overview
Applications are invited for the post of External Verifier for SVQ Emergency Fire Service (VG 282).
Applicants will be expected to have relevant experience and knowledge of the courses to be verified and have knowledge and understanding of the sector. In addition, applicants must be currently delivering or have recently delivered these courses or closely related courses.
Responsibilities
An External Verifier is responsible for external verification and qualification approval activities under the conditions, timescales and arrangements set by SQA. The prime role is to participate in verification of qualifications in the subject area concerned to ensure that standards are maintained.
Fees and expenses are paid for work undertaken.
All applications will be auto acknowledged.
After successful completion of SQA\’s Induction process the applicant will receive training in the role and work within a team of subject professionals.
Should an applicant require release from their employer (Scottish colleges only), they should discuss this fully with appropriate personnel within the centre before making an application. Up to 5 days release is anticipated in the annual contract period with additional time in applicants\’ own time also required to fulfil the duties of this post.
Qualifications/Requirements
Applicants must also meet the SSC Assessment Strategy requirements and have up to date occupational CPD. Successful applicants must hold or be prepared to work towards the relevant External Verifier Learning & Development unit as this is an SQA requirement. Applicants must also be prepared to participate in training and/or professional activities to meet continuing professional development requirements.
