We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to work within the Planning, Governance & Compliance team. The team are going through an exciting period of enhancing their capability and working on some interesting delivery projects.
As the Technical Delivery Manager you will work closely with Project Managers within the Programme Delivery Team as well as technical resources from a broad range of business systems technical teams. This role is tasked with leading and reporting on the delivery of the IT technical element of business and technical projects involving the development and implementation of systems and processes to meet business and corporate objectives. In order to do this must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:
- Coordination and leadership of solution teams (typically leading more than one solution team at any given time), providing associated reporting on the delivery of the IT elements of project work in line with business objectives, within budget and timescales.
- Identification, clarification and evaluation of technical issues and risks, and initiation of corrective actions. This includes management of the resolution.
- Production of requisite project documentation to facilitate project delivery control and reporting of IT product delivery. This will include the production and maintenance of an overall technical plan and regular progress reporting in relation to the delivery of all technical deliverables.
- Leadership, motivation and support of IT solution teams to ensure successful solution delivery. This will include day to day coordination of the activities of staff allocated or seconded to projects but there is no direct line management responsibility for staff.
- Liaison with project managers to update on project progress on all technical related tasks.
- Use of initiative and knowledge to develop options and solutions to problems arising relative to the technical element of projects.
- In collaboration with project managers, engagement with external suppliers for duration of project.
- Coordination of all technical testing activity undertaken within the project.
- Work within SQA’s IT strategy and standards framework and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and documentation.

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (i.e. Ordinary Degree or higher) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role. Exposure to delivery methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), delivery frameworks (e.g. Prince 2) and experience of utilising project scheduling tooling (e.g. MS Project) are highly desirable. A working knowledge and/or previous experience working in the education sector would be beneficial for this role.
