Job Purpose: To ensure the effective and efficient management of all mail items for the Establishment on a Saturday in line with the SPS Policy & Standard Operating Procedures. To also provide general administration duties for the Establishment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an effective and efficient mail delivery system in accordance to the agreed timescales and ensuring prisoner and staff requests are met.
  • Provide assurance to management that all processes and systems are completed in accordance with the Prison and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 2011, the Management of Prisoner Correspondence policy (GMA20A/17) and appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct secondary assurance of all mail through x-ray machine and classify into the relevant categories while completing the relevant associated paperwork as per the Standard Operating Procedures and uploading the appropriate information to SharePoint.
  • Take ownership and responsibility of your role, ensuring that you remain compliant and fully trained in all aspects of the role.
  • Arrange for secondary assurance of the mail before securing and delivery to residential areas.
  • Carry out any other general administration duties as directed by the Criminal Admin Manager.
