As a Solicitor in the Strategic Projects and Transactions legal team at ScottishPower, you will provide expert legal advice to executive management and senior stakeholders at ScottishPower, collaborating closely with Iberdrola on a diverse array of legal matters. Your work will encompass corporate M&A, joint ventures, and critical strategic projects and transactions, making a significant impact on our business and its future.
What you’ll be doing
As a Solicitor in our Strategic Projects and Transactions legal team, you will have the opportunity to lead, influence, and manage legal support across our entire business group, under the guidance of the Head of Legal for Strategic Projects and Transactions.
In this exciting position, you will be the key interface between the Iberdrola Group and ScottishPower, collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of all legal aspects related to strategic projects and transactions.
Your expertise will be crucial as you act as the focal point and subject matter expert on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic commercial projects, transactions, and corporate activities.
You will proactively identify, assess, and recommend strategies to manage legal risks across the ScottishPower/Iberdrola Group, facilitating efficient and effective business dealings.

To be considered for this role, you must possess a current practicing certificate or membership of a UK Law Society (Scotland, England & Wales, Northern Ireland) and hold an LLB degree (or equivalent). We are looking for candidates with at least three years of relevant experience in corporate/commercial law.
Your background should include delivering corporate/commercial projects, preferably in M&A and/or joint venture projects within the energy sector. However, candidates with strong corporate experience outside the energy sector will also be considered. Experience working in a leading legal corporate advisory team, either in-house or within a UK law firm, is essential.
We value a proven track record in providing accurate, timely, and commercial legal advice. This includes drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial transactional agreements and advising on contractual issues arising from large-scale M&A/corporate projects and transactions.
