To support the Member Services and Business Development Team Leader and contribute to the efficient delivery of financial services and products to Scottish Police Credit Union (SPCU) members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up new SPCU membership accounts and provide an effective onboarding service to welcome members, assist with online activation and ensure familiarity with relevant products.
- Review, authorise and set up members loans, including applications for 0% interest. Undertake the required credit reference checks, contact members to clarify information and process all data through relevant financial databases.
- Act as a point of contact for members requiring specific financial advice regarding debt. Discuss available options and provide direct guidance to members on appropriate resolutions. Report individual cases to relevant financial advisory partners if required.
- Process a wide range of financial transactions including insurance claims, family indemnity plans, direct debit instructions, manual share withdrawals, receipts, closures and share to loan applications.
- Respond to escalated queries and provide assistance to members and other stakeholders as required.
- Validate all relevant payrolls and post to members accounts to ensure accuracy of monthly deductions from salaries.
- Maintain the payment break record, directly engaging with members as required.
- Undertake monthly loan account reviews and conversions from junior to adult accounts.
- Update and ensure the accuracy of the money laundering database.
- Monitor the petty cash log and balance at the end of each month.
- Attend board and internal staff meetings, cascading all relevant information to the wider team.
- Reconcile any discrepancies and ensure all outstanding documentation is collated by engaging with colleagues or members as appropriate.
- Assist internal auditors on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Continually review processes ensuring they are relevant and fit for purpose, suggesting changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency and cost reductions.
- Liaise with the SPCU Fire Marshal on procedures and ensure data safety documents are updated appropriately.
- Support external events to promote SPCU and help to recruit and interact with new members.
- Adhere to the SPCU financial policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential: Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise own workload. Pleasant, approachable and customer focused manner. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable: Educated to Higher Grade, SVQ 2 or equivalent level. Certificate in Credit Union Principles and Practice. Experience of payroll and assessment of loan applications. Working knowledge of the Credit Union industry.

- Post is subject to vetting.
- Availability to attend evening and weekend meetings may be required.
- Driving licence is not required.
