Creative Music Animateur in Glasgow

Location: Glasgow (Edington Street, Glasgow) & Hybrid Working

Salary: £24,573.15 per annum

Contract: Full-time, 2 Year Fixed-term, 35 hours per week

Are you an early-career musician with a passion for inspiring others through music? Scottish Opera is offering an exciting development opportunity for a Creative Music Animateur to join our Outreach & Education team. This new role is part of our Emerging Artist Programme.

This unique role is designed to help you build a career in creative learning and community engagement. You'll work alongside experienced creative practitioners, musicians and educators, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of schools and community projects while receiving mentoring and professional development throughout the programme.

You’ll have opportunities to:

• Develop and deliver creative music workshops in schools and community settings
• Work alongside The Orchestra of Scottish Opera on engaging education projects
• Support our Community Choirs and Children's Chorus, with opportunities to lead rehearsals and workshops
• Contribute to innovative wellbeing projects, including Breath Cycle and Memory Spinners
• Gain experience in project planning, facilitation and creative learning, while developing your own artistic practice

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a degree in Music
• Has experience delivering music-based workshops
• Is an excellent communicator with a positive, flexible approach
• Enjoys working collaboratively and is committed to their own professional development
• Is willing to travel across Scotland as required

General Terms & Conditions

• Contract: Full-time, Fixed-term (2 years)
• Hours: 35 hours per week, worked 9.30am to 5.30pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
• Annual salary: £24,573.15 per annum
• Holidays: 25 days per annum plus 10 Public Holidays (pro rata)
• Probationary period: 3 months
• Pension: You will be automatically enrolled into a qualifying workplace pension scheme (QWPS). You will contribute 4% of your salary, the Company contributes 8%.
