Scottish Opera is seeking talented singers (soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and baritone / bass) to join the Company’s Emerging Artist Programme for the 2026/27 Season. Candidates should be of at least postgraduate standard or equivalent and on the verge of a professional career.
Successful applicants will join our fantastic team in Glasgow and will be given the opportunity to perform appropriate roles and covers in the main season as well as going on tour to smaller venues throughout Scotland. Scottish Opera provides world-class coaching and mentoring, and you will be working closely with our Head of Casting Sarah-Jane Davies, Head of Music Fiona MacSherry, and Music Director Stuart Stratford.
Emerging Artists from both the current and previous season have performed or covered roles across all our productions, including Albert Herring, Don Pasquale, Trial by Jury & A Matter of Misconduct!, L’heure espagnole & The Bear, La bohème, The Great Wave, and The Marriage of Figaro.
This is a paid position with a current salary of £23,020.20 per annum plus benefits. Scottish Opera welcomes applications from all backgrounds. All candidates must provide documentary proof of Right to Work in the UK; this will be requested prior to audition.
The programme is provisionally due to commence on 7 September 2026 and finish at the end of the Season on 15 June 2027. However, these dates will vary for each Emerging Artist, depending on the roles assigned in projects and productions throughout the period.
