Two things define our future: how we operate today, and how accountable we are for it. Across our business, sustainability isn’t a side initiative—it’s central to every decision we make. From achieving Net Zero to eliminating waste to landfill, we’ve set ambitious targets. But targets alone don’t create change. Data, discipline, and the right people do. That’s where you come in. Reporting to our Head of Sustainability and Innovation, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our environmental commitments are not only met—but continuously strengthened. This isn’t just about compliance. It’s about making sustainability visible, measurable, and meaningful across the entire organisation.

You’ll be the person who connects the dots—turning complex environmental data into clear insight, guiding decisions at Board level, and ensuring our operations stand up to the highest standards. In this role you will:

  • Ensure we meet and exceed environmental compliance standards, including IPPC/EASR licensing and ISO frameworks (14001, 50001), as well as carbon and energy obligations.
  • Act as a guardian of integrity—auditing our operations and supply chain to ensure they meet globally recognised environmental and ethical standards.
  • Turn data into direction—analysing environmental performance and shaping recommendations that influence business strategy.
  • Bring sustainability to life across the organisation—working with teams to embed environmental responsibility into everyday operations.
  • Lead the validation and reporting of key sustainability metrics, including carbon data, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and impact.
  • Anticipate what’s next—tracking regulatory and environmental trends to proactively manage risk and opportunity.
  • Contribute to our ESG story—supporting and shaping our Annual Group ESG Report with robust, auditable data.

You’re someone who sees beyond compliance—you see the bigger picture. You bring strong experience in environmental compliance, ideally within IPPC and carbon reporting frameworks. You’re comfortable working with regulators and external bodies, and confident navigating complex requirements. You have a sharp analytical mindset, paired with the ability to communicate clearly and influence others. You care about accuracy, accountability, and making a tangible difference. A background in Environmental Science or Management is preferred, and chartered status would be an advantage.

The impact you will have: You will play a key role in strengthening how sustainability performance is measured, governed, and improved across the organisation. By ensuring environmental data is accurate, transparent, and actionable, you will help the business make informed decisions that support both operational performance and long‑term ESG commitments. Your work will improve visibility across environmental performance, strengthen compliance frameworks, and support the organisation in achieving ambitious sustainability targets with confidence and credibility. You will also help create a culture where environmental responsibility is driven by insight, accountability, and continuous improvement — not just obligation. Through your contribution, you’ll help shape a more sustainable, data-driven future for the business, ensuring environmental performance remains measurable, meaningful, and aligned to our strategic goals.

What’s in it for you: You’ll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package designed to support your wellbeing, financial security, and career development. This includes a company pension, life assurance, company sick pay, enhanced annual leave that increases with service, and access to a health and wellbeing programme alongside an Employee Assistance Programme with private GP services. You’ll also have opportunities to grow through coaching, training, and development support, plus practical perks such as cycle to work and electric vehicle schemes, free on‑site parking, and access to a range of retail discounts. We believe our strength comes from our people. We value diversity, encourage development, and create an environment where everyone can thrive.

Ready to be part of the story? If you’re passionate about sustainability, thrive on turning data into meaningful action, and want to play a key role in shaping environmental performance across a forward-thinking organisation, we’d love to hear from you. This role requires an on-site presence, hybrid working is available however, the role cannot be carried out remotely on a full-time basis.
