As a Laboratory Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our leather, raw materials, and environmental samples consistently meet customer and internal specifications.

Combining technical accuracy, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, you'll provide the testing and reporting that supports production, drives continuous improvement, and gives confidence in every product we deliver.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory testing on leather, incoming materials, and effluent/water samples in accordance with recognised test methods, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Ensure samples are correctly prepared and conditioned before testing, maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyse and interpret test results, highlighting non-conformances, ambiguous findings, or potential risks promptly to support effective decision making.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and reports, ensuring testing data is up to date, traceable, and communicated to customers and internal stakeholders when required.
  • Work closely with Production, Technical, Quality, and external contacts to deliver testing within customer deadlines and production schedules.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated, safe, and fit for purpose while supporting a well organised and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Support colour assessment activities, providing feedback on leather colour and advising on corrective actions where required.
  • Champion safe working practices and contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including supporting IMDS data management.

Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience, ideally within a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing methods, quality standards, and accurate record keeping.
  • Confidence analysing data and interpreting results, producing clear, factual, and concise reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in every aspect of your work.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and external stakeholders, building strong working relationships across the business.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting customer and production deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, identifying issues early and supporting practical, evidence based solutions.
  • IT competent, safety conscious, and committed to continuous improvement and maintaining high professional standards.

Your work will provide the information needed to support production decisions, identify quality issues early, and ensure products consistently meet customer expectations.

Working closely with Production, Technical, Quality, and Environmental teams, you'll help maintain robust quality systems, improve process capability, and support the successful delivery of both production and development activities.
