Sustainability Officer to join our team at Scottish Leather Group in Bridge of Weir, Glasgow. In this permanent role, reporting directly to the Head of Sustainability & Innovation, you will be responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with environmental legislation, standards such as ISO 14001 and 50001, and regulatory frameworks like IPPC/EASR.
Your primary focus will be managing environmental compliance, overseeing initiatives aligned with our ambitious sustainability targets—including zero waste to landfill and net zero carbon emissions—and validating environmental data from internal and external sources. You will play a key role in analysing environmental metrics, preparing reports for senior management and stakeholders, and supporting the development of practical solutions to environmental challenges.
This role demands a proactive approach to legislative changes, verifying the integrity of our operations and supply chains, and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Graduate in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or similar field (chartered status is advantageous)
- Extensive experience in compliance-driven roles, particularly with IPPC/EASR, carbon reporting, and liaising with regulatory bodies such as SEPA
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data verification and reporting
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex environmental information clearly and concisely
- Proven problem-solving abilities and proactive initiative
- Ability to see the wider picture and manage multiple stakeholders effectively
- Demonstrated commitment to personal development, leadership, and living company values
