We offer a rewarding work environment and as a valued employee you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to both our local community and to people’s lives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Development team and gain hands-on experience working across the full project lifecycle of development projects, from early site identification and acquisition, through design and construction to handover and defects. Working on the client side, you’ll be involved in a diverse development programme that includes regeneration of existing neighbourhoods, the transformation of derelict sites into high quality affordable homes, along with the refurbishment of existing buildings. You’ll also gain exposure to acquisitions, supporting the purchase of existing homes from the private sector into the association's stock.
You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Gain practical experience across all stages of development and regeneration projects
- Support the delivery of new affordable housing in response to the housing emergency
- Develop an understanding of how projects are delivered from the perspective of both client and long-term asset owner
- Build your knowledge and skills in development, taking on increasing responsibility over time as your experience and confidence grows, working towards managing your own projects
This is a varied and rewarding role where two days are rarely the same and gives the opportunity to make a real difference within an organisation with a strong social purpose. The position is mainly office based, with regular site visits and attendance at meetings. There will be opportunities for hybrid and flexible working as your experience grows.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated individual who is genuinely interested in development and regeneration and is seeking to build a career in the housing sector. You’ll be organised and proactive, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage your time effectively working across multiple projects simultaneously. You should be comfortable using your own initiative and applying strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including internal colleagues, contractors, consultants, local authorities and local communities. You should be resourceful, adaptable and willing to learn, with a strong commitment to developing your own skills and knowledge.
Experience within a construction, property, housing, or public sector related organisation is desirable. However, we also welcome applications from other backgrounds with relevant experience who can demonstrate transferable skills and an interest in moving into the client-side development role. Candidates who already hold a relevant qualification such as a degree in construction management or a related discipline are encouraged to apply, and those currently working towards a degree in a related discipline are encouraged to apply. Where the candidate does not already hold a relevant qualification, they will be required to work towards an appropriate qualification through a graduate apprenticeship programme.
The postholder will support a wide range of activities across the Development function, with responsibilities increasing over time in line with experience and development.
