McTaggart Construction is looking for a Development Manager to help deliver affordable housing projects across Scotland. This role plays a key part in shaping new housing projects, from feasibility and planning through to delivery. You’ll work closely with internal teams, local authorities, housing associations and funding bodies to make sure projects are well planned, well managed and delivered to the right standard.
Location: Glasgow, Scotland.
What You’ll Do
- Manage housing developments from initial feasibility through to completion.
- Lead site appraisals, feasibility studies and financial assessments.
- Coordinate planning applications and manage relationships with planning authorities.
- Oversee design development and ensure projects meet required standards.
- Monitor budgets, programmes and risks across multiple projects.
- Work closely with construction, commercial and finance teams.
- Liaise with housing associations, funders and statutory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with Scottish Government, local authority and funder requirements.
- Support procurement activity and contract discussions.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree or professional qualification in development, planning, construction, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing residential or affordable housing developments.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and housing policy.
- Sound financial knowledge, including development appraisals.
- Organised, with the ability to manage several projects at once.
- Confident communicator who builds effective working relationships.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office packages.
- Office based in Glasgow, with some travel to sites as required.
