We have a temporary promotion opportunity within the Master Data Management Team (MDM) as a Data Specialist on the Chart of Accounts. MDM are the custodians of the Enterprise Structures for Oracle Cloud. Any changes to the key data is co-ordinated through the team and governed through the Organisational Change Control Board. Data that is essential to the organisation’s services includes the Finance Chart of Account and Organisation structures across ERP, HCM, FCCS, EPM Finance and EPM Workforce.

Reporting to the B3 Data Lead, you’ll manage the Chart of Accounts using EDMCS. You’ll liaise with a number of senior managers from external agencies, senior business partners and finance leads to agree structures for the Chart of Account, and ensure these structures are applied across ERP, HCM, FCCS, EPM Finance and EPM Workforce.

• Manage the ERP Chart of Accounts advising on appropriate and effective use of data as required.
• Follow CoA best practice and standards, and maintain data models. Advise on appropriate and effective use of data.
• Ensure the CoA data is accurate and managed across the five Oracle Cloud applications by utilising the EDMCS application to create, modify and delete data. Ensure an accurate audit trail is applied to all changes in the hierarchy.
• Perform data transformations between SIT, UAT and Production EDMCS instances, highlighting and correcting data inaccuracies.
• Prepare data for organisational change, co-ordinating uploads to ERP, HCM, FCCS, EPM Finance and EPM Workforce. Ensuring the CoA is applied to all five Oracle Cloud application in a timeous manner.
• Design, test and document test scripts for the EDMCS patch upgrades.
• Contribute to written and verbal data analysis output (e.g. reports or presentations);
• Support liaison and day-to-day relationship management between the MDM Team, the Financial Management Directorate and key customer and user groups.
• Manage the iFix service queue, ensuring customers queries are dealt with within service standards and prioritising and escalating critical CoA requests when required.
• Respond promptly to urgent payroll updates, failed payments and technical system issues.

Experience

1. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience of successfully managing multiple stakeholder relationships to deliver business outcomes.
2. Good analytical skills and experience of problem resolution techniques, with ability to absorb potentially conflicting information to produce solutions.
3. Track record of eliciting information requirements, employing necessary tools and methods in order to develop or maintain appropriate data models.
4. Experience in manipulating, linking and cleansing data in order to carry out data quality activities.
5. Two years of experience working in a finance role.
6. Knowledge of EDMCS and working knowledge of the Chart of Account.

Working pattern

This role is a temporary promotion opportunity for 6 months.

Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role, including Flexi-leave. Scottish Government staff in hybrid-compatible roles should aim to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location.
