Scottish Friendly have an exciting opportunity to join our team. Based in Glasgow City Centre, we are one of the most progressive mutual life insurance offices in the UK. We are recruiting a developing professional to support the delivery of product analysis by working independently to provide SME input in relation to legacy products to the wider business. This role will report into the Head of Actuarial Valuation and will involve close collaboration with other SMEs, as well as team leaders and managers across the business.
This role includes contributing technical expertise and supporting team operations.
Responsibilities
SME Support
- Act as a subject matter expert resource, supporting a range of business projects and business-as-usual activities in order to share knowledge, support peers and drive changes to benefit the business and peers.
- Document and challenge the “as is” and investigate and implement ways to improve existing processes based on wider experience of good practice observed.
- Participate in job chats and team meetings, providing input on progress and development needs.
- Work independently to investigate queries in relation to legacy products and act as lead point of contact for business queries.
Technical Support & Analysis
- Assist in producing deliverables and conducting analysis across a range of business areas.
- Support the implementation of regulatory changes and strategic initiatives by contributing to process updates and documentation.
- Work closely with other functions such as Customer Services, Finance, Commercial, and Risk & Compliance to support cross-functional projects, as well as improve understanding and processes for other functions.
- Prepare papers and reports for internal committees and governance forums, and present the papers if required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Significant experience working within a life insurance company.
- A very strong knowledge of different types of life insurance products.
- Relevant experience to the specific role (I.e. valuation experience or project/change experience).
- Ability to work by themselves to find solutions to complex problems.
- Experience of working with with-profits products.
- Experience of working on projects.
