Join Scottish Friendly and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our savings and insurance products in a customer-centric business. As a Senior Product Development Manager, you will lead the design and delivery of product developments and management to enhance the proposition and experience for our customers. This is a fixed-term contract for 18 months.

In this key role you will help to influence business growth, create exceptional customer experiences and ensure regulatory compliance. You will work cross-functionally with key areas across the business, including Marketing, IT, Change, Finance, Risk, and external partners to bring new ideas to market and optimise existing products to meet our customers' needs, deliver fair value and long-term success.

Key responsibilities
  • Product Development: Lead product development enhancements for our ISA, Junior ISA, pension and protections products, through cross-functional teams to meet customer needs and strategic business objectives by:
  • Identifying new product opportunities through market understanding, competitor knowledge and ongoing customer feedback.
  • Collaborating across the team to prioritise initiatives and acquire key business stakeholder buy-in.
  • Defining, documenting and validating requirements and journeys with stakeholders.
  • Providing technical product input into the development of requirements.
  • Coordinating and supporting implementations, including business readiness and communication plans, and working with Marketing to create take-to-market activities and messaging.
  • Producing and presenting project delivery metrics to Head of Products.
  • Monitoring product performance and leading retros post-launch to further inform future enhancements.
  • Ongoing Product Management: Being responsible for the effective ongoing management of our products in a BAU environment by:
    • Understanding regulatory requirements and changes in regulation related to our products to ensure their compliance.
    • Ensuring our products continue to be communicated clearly and accurately, provide value for money, and meet customer needs.
    • Maintaining key product literature, including Terms and Conditions, and Key Features to ensure they evolve effectively as customer expectations change and as regulations change.
    • Identifying risks, managing them with key stakeholders, and providing recommendations for risk mitigation.
    • Ensuring our products meet and exceed legal, regulatory and industry requirements.
    • Managing and reporting upon key metrics to allow us to effectively and consistently understand and evidence performance against Good Customer Outcome MI.
    • Drafting and managing customer mailings to ensure our customers are kept informed of key product changes.
    Experience & Skills
    • Proven experience in product development and/or Product Owner type roles within financial services.
    • A proactive approach to identifying new product/proposition opportunities with a desire to drive them forward to meet our customer and business needs.
    • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels in the business.
    • Strong communication skills, including verbal, report writing and presentation delivery.
    • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively to consistently deliver to agreed timelines.
    • A strong understanding of the technical workings of savings and insurance products, and rules and regulations, including Consumer Duty.
    • Possess a strong appreciation of key customer, conduct and business risks throughout the product development and management lifecycles.
