Fleet Support Technician
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Fleet Support Technician, based in East Asset Resource Centre, 21 Claylands Road, Newbridge EH28 8LF on a permanent basis.
This is a full time post working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
All roles within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Fleet and Equipment department to assist the organisation to meet its mission statement of providing the highest standard of fire safety and emergency response services to all the communities served by the Scottish fire and rescue service working towards the primary aims of prevention, intervention, people and performance.
This post is predominately workshop based but will have a significant requirement for the inspection and testing of new and existing vehicles and operational equipment \"on site\" at the services stations and premises throughout the East area.
The post holder will be responsible for the detailed inspection servicing and maintenance regimes on fire service vehicles and operational equipment in accordance with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) guidelines and procedures
It is essential that you are a fully qualified time served vehicle mechanic and have the appropriate City and Guilds qualifications and have gained levels two and three qualifications in electric vehicle maintenance or industry equivalent. Hold membership / automotive technician accreditation of the IMI Professional Register of technicians qualified to repair hybrid and electric vehicles and able to demonstrate ongoing CPD activity.Educated to HNC level or equivalent relevant experience gained within the working environment. Hold a current driving licence and HGV Licence. Have previous experience of managing a team of staff for a minimum of 2 years. Experience of working in an environment providing fleet cover 24/7. Able to work as part of a team in a busy working environment. Experience of using Fleet Management systems and other IT packages e.g. Word/Excel. Experience of being able to generate positive working relationships to achieve an end result. Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to various groups of staff. Have good organisational skills to meet timescales/ deadlines. Have experience of budgetary control. It would also be desirable to hold a category C driving licence, have a good awareness of Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and some training on Equality and Diversity and have a flexible approach to working arrangements.
Rotating 4 day working week:
Week 1 Monday - Wednesday 08:00 - 17:30 Thursday 08:00 - 16:30.
Week 2 Tuesday - Thursday 08:00 - 17:30 Friday 08:00 - 16:30.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
