Organization: Ark Housing Association (voluntary).

Ark’s mission is to create the best possible customer outcomes through highly skilled people, high-quality affordable homes and excellent care. The organisation operates across 12 local authority areas in the North and East of Scotland and also provides services in the Western Isles, supporting over 700 staff and 400 people in need of long-term care.

This role offers an opportunity to shape Ark’s strategy for the next 5-10 years, improve governance frameworks, and drive the delivery of high-quality housing and care & support services.

Ark Group Board

We are seeking 2-3 recruits for non-executive positions on Ark’s parent board: Ark Housing Association. The board meets 6-7 times per year in a hybrid format and requires some face-to-face attendance. Preferred backgrounds include Care & Support, Housing/Asset, Finance or Digital Improvement. Understanding of governance in a registered social landlord (RSL) would be an advantage but is not essential.

Ark Subsidiary Board

We are appointing non-executive directors for a separate subsidiary board that serves two independent companies. Meetings are held remotely 4 times per year and are consecutive. The role is ideal for individuals seeking their first board experience and offers exposure to both a commercial/private company and a registered charity. We provide full induction and mentorship from an experienced board member and do not require prior board experience.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Develop and enable the delivery of Ark’s strategic vision for the next 5-10 years.
  • Improve governance frameworks and effectively monitor performance.
  • Ensure the focus remains on delivering high-quality housing and care & support services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant experience in Care & Support, Housing/Asset, Finance or Digital Improvement.
  • Knowledge of RSL governance a plus but not mandatory.
  • Dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic individuals from varied backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially for the subsidiary board.
