The Role
The Asset Investment Officer will play a key role in providing in-house technical support and design functions in respect of the Investment programme and alterations to existing properties at all stages of a contract from inception to completion. The role carries lead responsibility in asset investment works aligning to Bield’s Strategic Asset Management strategy.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare design briefs for refurbishment of building components, specialist system replacements, adaptations or alterations of existing properties in consultation with Customer Services and other Asset Management colleagues, where appropriate.
- Assist in the preparation of contract documentation, including Bills of quantity, submission of Planning and Building Warrant applications and detailed drawings (either manually or using CAD) for Major Works and other Investment contracts.
- Carry out fully compliant procurement, following direction from the Investment Manager to ensure adherence to Bield’s Procurement Policy and Procedures; evaluate tender documentation received, score quality submissions, compile cost analysis data and prepare tender reports.
Working Hours and Location
35 hours per week, organised over Monday to Friday. The role is based in Glasgow – Craighall Business Park, 7 Eagle Street, Glasgow, G4 9XA, with regular travel across Bield sites and the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis.
Salary
£40,003.00 to £42,991.00 per annum, plus £4,048 car allowance.
What We’re Looking For
- Passion about delivering high quality projects that make a real difference.
- Significant relevant experience in the delivery of building refurbishment and maintenance contracts, preferably within housing or the public sector.
- Practical experience of producing technical information (e.g., drawings and tender documentation) for major repairs and replacement of building components in existing properties or for new buildings.
- Ability to provide highly effective administrative and organisational skills to prioritise, plan and coordinate a workload across a variety of buildings in different locations.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation within the construction industry, including Health & Safety and CDM.
- Experience of organising and supervising projects in conjunction with contractors and consultants.
- Degree level qualification in building surveying or construction management and/or significant experience in a similar or related role.
- Certified continuous professional development in building‑related areas such as asbestos management, legionella control, gas safety awareness courses, CDM regulations, etc.
- Valid driving licence and access to a road‑worthy car, insured for business use, and willingness to travel throughout the areas within which Bield operates.
- Understanding of the needs of older people.
