We are seeking a Senior Specialist Hydrogeologist to provide scientific leadership and evidence that informs and drives effective, targeted action to protect and improve the environment through sustainable water resources management, water resilience and climate change adaptation across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual models based on hydrogeological data interpretation.
  • Conduct groundwater risk and impact assessments for resources and quality.
  • Develop and use numerical groundwater modelling of flows and pollutant fate.
  • Provide expert evidence and advice on complex groundwater issues to internal and external customers.
  • Manage groundwater projects and provide technical direction, supporting delivery of River Basin Management Plan actions, water scarcity incident management, and monitoring analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in an appropriate scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience undertaking impact and risk assessments for groundwater and dependent receptors, including quantitative modelling.
  • Relevant experience designing, managing and interpreting ground investigation, pumping tests and monitoring, with knowledge of health, safety and environmental considerations.
  • Effective project management skills, mentoring and staff development experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for translating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence.
