On appointment of this role, the contracted job title will show as Environment Protection Officer.
As a Radioactive Substances Inspector, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the regulation of and enforcing against the requirements of EASR 2018 in respect of radioactive substances activities at nuclear sites across Scotland.
- Reviewing statutory returns submitted to SEPA by nuclear sites across Scotland.
- Supporting the determination of applications and variations to environmental authorisations submitted by nuclear sites across Scotland.
- Inputting to the wider work programme of SEPA's Radioactive Substances Unit.
This is a highly important role within our Regulation, Business & Environment portfolio, which means you will need:
- A degree or equivalent qualification level in a relevant science or engineering subject.
- Good, relevant experience in the radioactive substances/nuclear industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of radioactive substances/nuclear industry.
- Understanding of the principles of radiological protection.
- Understanding of the requirements of SEPA's regulatory regimes.
- A full UK Driving Licence as driving is essential to the role.
