Knowing the work we do makes a genuine, lasting difference on the environment.Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced flood modeller with expertise in the application of a range of industry standard hydraulic methods, approaches and software applications to support flood mapping projects, including one or more of the following areas;Emerging flood modelling techniques and applications, such as application of AI, ML, simulation libraries for flood modellingProficiency in data analysis and software for the purpose of joint probability analysisThe modelling of natural and artificial structures / breach scenarios and/or reservoir inundationDevelopment of guidance to support customer use of our products and services.A passion for developing and mentoring staffRespect for your expertise This is a highly important role within our Data, Evidence & Innovation portfolio, which means you\’ll need:Degree in appropriate scientific discipline or equivalent experienceExtensive experience and expertise in the application of a range of industry standard hydraulic methods, approaches and software applications to support flood mapping projectsGood professional experience in hydraulic modelling applications to support flood hazard mapping projectsEffective technical project management skills, with experience of mentoring and developing staffExperience in guidance development and proficient user of GISFull UK Driving Licence & driving essential to rolePlease open the link to the Senior Specialist Scientist role profile link which outlines the core responsibilities and expectations of the role within a defined activity family.
