We are recruiting for 2 full time Specialist 1 COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) staff, on a permanent basis

Work that goes beyond your desk

Experts at what we do, we work in a professional way towards our shared goals, knowing the work we do makes a genuine, lasting difference on the environment. As Specialist 1 COMAH, that involves:

  • Lead on delivery of operational COMAH work, including the regulation of complex COMAH sites, assessment of technical submissions and response to COMAH environmental incidents
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on COMAH to SEPA's Industry Regulation teams and managers and, when required, for COMAH policy development
  • Supervise and mentor colleagues dealing with COMAH work, providing guidance, support and training when required
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key COMAH stakeholders

Respect for your expertise

This is a highly important role within our Regulation, Business & Environment portfolio, which means you’ll need:

  • Relevant experience or qualification equivalent to SCQF Level 10 (e.g relevant Degree).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of COMAH legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpersonal, consultative and negotiating skills
  • Well-developed planning, analytical and organisational skills
  • Proven COMAH regulatory and/or industry experience
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
