We are recruiting a full time Environment Protection Officer on a permanent basis. As Environment Protection Officer, that involves:

  • Deliver compliance monitoring and enforcement of a third of the 693 reservoirs under the Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011 to ensure safety downstream of the sites
  • Continue the momentum of the enforcement campaign to drive up compliance and reservoir safety
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to reservoir managers and engineers
  • Contribute to SEPA’s transformational change to improve productivity

This is a highly important role within our Data, Evidence & Innovation (DEI), and while training will be provided, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant experience or qualification equivalent to a minimum HND / SCQF Level 8-10
  • Technical knowledge/experience of enforcement and/or environmental regulation
  • Ability to provide advice and guide others on the resolution of issues and proven problem-solving capability
  • Ability to understand and interpret policy and give detailed guidance, advice or information to others
  • Ability to deal with challenging situations in a professional manner
