As an Executive Officer, you will act as Clerk of Court. You will help ensure court business is
managed smoothly, proceedings run efficiently and cases progress in a timely and fair manner.
This includes overseeing hearings, preparing and managing casework, and supporting the
judiciary in applying legislation and procedures accurately and consistently.
We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds. While previous experience
managing or leading people—formally or informally—is desirable, it is not essential. You will
receive structured support through coaching, training and ongoing guidance to develop your
confidence and leadership skills.
Court Duties
Fulfilling the role of Clerk of Court in criminal and civil proceedings, ensuring hearings run
smoothly and respectfully.
Ensuring the accurate preparation, recording and disposal of casework, including diary
entries and intimation of court orders.
Checking and processing civil and criminal applications and issuing court documentation
within statutory time limits.
Supporting the judiciary with the appropriate application of legislation, rules and procedures.
General Responsibilities
You may manage your own team, providing daily support, clear direction and
encouragement to contribute to their professional development.
Providing accurate, accessible advice to all court users—including Sheriffs, solicitors and
members of the public—often in relation to technical or procedural matters.
