We’re looking for a Court Officer to join our team at Kilmarnock Sheriff & JP Court on a part-time, permanent basis for 17.5 hours per week comprising Monday and Tuesday 7 hours per day and Wednesday for 3.5 hours (AM). This role is based fully on-site in the court.
As a Court Officer, you will support the delivery of court hearings, working alongside members of the judiciary and legal professionals to ensure proceedings are conducted safely and efficiently. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the justice system within a structured and professional setting. You will be supported through formal training and development, with opportunities for progression, alongside the benefits of public sector employment, including job stability and a competitive pension scheme.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare courtrooms and support Sheriffs during proceedings
- Welcome and guide witnesses, jurors, professionals and members of the public
- Support the safe and orderly running of the court building
- Assist with courtroom technology, including audio‑visual equipment
- Handle documents, productions and general admin tasks
- Work closely with colleagues, Police Scotland, GEOAmey and partner services
