We are currently recruiting Administrative Officers to join our team at Edinburgh Sheriff & JP Court. This is a permanent part‑time vacancy working 17.5 hours per week over 3 days.
As an Administrative Officer, you’ll play a key part in the day‑to‑day running of the court, helping cases progress smoothly and ensuring court users receive a professional, reliable service. This is a varied, public‑facing role, where no two days are the same. You’ll be based in the court building and work closely with colleagues, members of the judiciary, legal professionals and the general public.
Responsibilities
- Providing a front‑line service at public counters and responding to enquiries by phone and email
- Preparing, processing and organising civil and criminal court papers
- Creating and updating records on internal computer systems
- Producing court documentation and preparing files for hearings
- Supporting court business before, during and after hearings
- Processing fine payments and carrying out related administrative work
