The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.
Equivalent to 2 days/8 hours per day with 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Ideally Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Type: Contract (18 months). Proposed start date: Tuesday 5 May 2026.
About the role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to SCAN’s success and support the delivery and development of our programmes. Reporting to the Programme Development Lead and working closely with the whole team, the post-holder will be responsible for assisting with the delivery and development across SCAN’s programmes and projects including SCAN Summit. The role will provide support for our Cultivate strand of activity, which focuses on creating meaningful opportunities for participation in art, allowing everyone to access cultural work and professional development that is fair, equitable, and geographically widespread. Our Cultivate projects invest in equity, collaboration, peer support, skills, and critical thinking and they are as follows:
- Constellations (support for Emerging Curators)
- Sparks (highlighting good practice in EDIA – equalities, diversity, inclusion and access)
- Ley Lines (working towards a more resilient and connected visual art community in the Highlands)
The post-holder will support the administrative and practical delivery of programme logistics and event planning, ensuring a care-led approach to artists, participants, members and partners’ needs. The role’s scope also includes making meaningful contributions to programme and sector development, membership support and ensuring SCAN’s cross-cutting themes are fully embedded into projects: EDIA, Fair Work, Climate.
We’re looking for someone that has strong organisation and people skills with an eye for detail, and an enthusiasm for the visual arts.

Programme support and delivery:
- Supporting the Programme Development Lead with the research, planning and realisation of projects.
- In person support at events as required: The candidate needs to be available for key dates in SCAN’s programme including SCAN Summit on Tuesday 9 June and our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
- Assisting with liaison with artists, participants, members and partners involved in the programme.
- Responsible for coordination and liaison of participants access and travel bursaries.
- Responsible for travel and accommodation coordination and booking.
- Supporting programme and membership evaluation including surveying of participants to events – actively seeking feedback from those engaged with the programme.
- Providing administrative support for the organisation as required, including Membership support. Tasks may involve updating spreadsheets/databases, creating event listings, building surveys.
- Assisting with programme-related communications when required.
- Contributing to organisational reporting.
Person specification
This opportunity would suit someone early in their career but with some previous experience working within contemporary art. This role includes opportunities for learning and development, working with an established team who will provide guidance and support. The ideal candidate would be someone well organised, adaptable and collaborative in their working, with a strong interest in innovative approaches to contemporary art, EDIA, fair work and climate action.
Place of work
The role will be based at SCAN’s office, currently at the Briggait in Glasgow. We offer hybrid and flexible working patterns where reasonable and appropriate. This role requires some core office time, occasional evening and weekend working, and travel across Scotland for member engagement and events.
