About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Finance Accountant to join our Finance Department team in Falkirk or Glasgow. You will provide additional support in the areas of fixed asset accounting, capital reporting, audit readiness and statutory compliance.
The role is offered on a permanent basis, working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
Primary responsibilities of the role:
· Support stakeholders on the accounting and budgetary treatment of projects
· Responsible for the reporting of the Capital Investment Program, including budgets, forecasts and actual expenditure for both Grant in Aid funding and Third-Party funding
· Support the continuous improvement of business processes within project accounting, to ensure efficiency and business improvement.
· Responsible for an accurate, complete and robust Fixed Asset Register
About the Reward
This role offers a progressive starting salary of £49,588 (Band F).
Scottish Canals offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 224 hours, plus 6 public holidays, along with enhanced sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, health cash plan and a contributory pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.
About You
Qualifications and knowledge required:
· Relevant professional accountancy qualification
Skills and experience required:
· A finance background with at least 3 years’ experience
· Strong technical accounting ability
· Strong analytical, numeric and critical reasoning skills
· Awareness, understanding and experience of working in a public sector organisation
Qualities & abilities required:
· Advanced Excel skills
· Working knowledge of IFRS and FReM
