A role where you can use your plumbing expertise to make a real difference in local communities At SBHA, you'll be part of a skilled Property Services team responsible for maintaining and improving homes across the Scottish Borders. Salary: £30,818 - £33,997 (Pay award pending)

Location: Scottish Borders

Hours and terms: 37 hours per week, permanent, full time. Participation in the stand‑by rota is required.

The Role:

You will undertake a wide range of plumbing repairs and maintenance work across SBHA properties. Working as part of a team of skilled tradespeople, you'll be responsible for completing repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service to our tenants. You'll use your technical expertise to diagnose issues, carry out repairs, manage materials and equipment, and ensure all work is accurately recorded using mobile technology.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general plumbing repairs and maintenance across SBHA properties.
  • Complete allocated work to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective communication with tenants.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from other trades when required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Respond to emergency repairs and reprioritise workloads where necessary.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours standby rota.
  • Support apprentices or work placements through on-the-job guidance and training where required.

What we're looking for:

  • A time-served plumber with strong all-round trade skills.
  • City & Guilds, SVQ Level 2 or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality workmanship with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Good awareness of health and safety practices in domestic environments.
  • A positive team player who is reliable, punctual and committed to excellent customer service.
  • Full current UK driving licence.
