Salary: £30,818 - £33,997 per annum

Hours and terms: 37 hours per week, permanent. This role is subject to occasional stand-by hours.

Join our Property Services team and help us deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services across the Scottish Borders. We're looking for a skilled and customer-focused Joiner who takes pride in their work and is committed to providing excellent service to our tenants. Working alongside a team of experienced tradespeople, you'll carry out a wide range of joinery repairs and maintenance tasks that make a real difference to people's homes and communities.
The Role
You will carry out a variety of repair, maintenance and improvement works across our housing stock, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You'll work closely with tenants and colleagues, providing excellent customer service while delivering quality workmanship. This is a varied role that requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining safe working practices.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Carry out general joinery repairs, maintenance and installation work across SBHA properties.
- Complete all allocated work to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain clear communication with tenants before and after appointments.
- Accurately record work completed, materials used and job information using digital systems.
- Manage and replenish vehicle stock, tools and equipment.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements and safe working practices at all times.
- Respond to emergency and stand-by call-outs when required.
- Assess jobs on site, identify solutions and determine when follow-on work is required.
- Support the development of apprentices and work placement students where required.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrable all-round joinery skills and experience delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Time-served Joiner with a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience and training).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Good awareness of health and safety requirements in domestic environments.
- Basic digital skills, including the use of mobile devices to record job information.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Current UK driving licence.
- Experience working in occupied homes or social housing environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of social housing and safeguarding principles would be beneficial.
