Cook in Charge - West Linton Primary School, Scottish Borders Council, West Linton, SCT, GB.

Salary £21,283.29 - £23,478.92 per annum.

Permanent contract.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen unit, including ordering, storage, preparation, cooking and serving of all foods and cleaning materials.
  • Work to a given menu and within agreed food and labour cost targets with the Area Catering Manager.
  • Complete Cook Safe documentation to maintain food hygiene standards.
  • Participate in the promotion and implementation of Better Eating Better Learning (BEBL).
  • Coordinate with teaching staff to communicate the whole School Approach to Food in Schools.
  • Ensure welfare and safe working practices of all staff; induction and basic training of new staff.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Oversee day-to-day administration and training of kitchen hygiene and cleaning schedules.
  • Monitor portion control as per client specifications.
  • Undertake catering function work occasionally outside the normal working day.
  • Any other duties as required by the Area Catering Manager.

Qualifications

  • Essential: SVQ 2 Food Prep and Cooking, City and Guilds 706/2 Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate, and Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate, or willingness to achieve within 6 months.
  • Allergen Awareness Training, or willingness to achieve within 6 months.
