Job Purpose

As an Assistant Cook in the Unit, you will assist the cook in meeting service delivery. Ensure Health and Safety compliance and provide cook coverage during daily unit operations. You will work within the appropriate costs set and to a given menu. Assist with staff training, follow hygiene protocols, and support Food and Drink in Schools 2020 regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the cook in the Unit to ensure that the specified service delivery is met.
  • Ensuring compliance with kitchen schedules, all Health and Safety regulations, and current legislation.
  • Facilitating orientation and delivering training to new staff for comprehensive support.
  • Participating in the promotion and implementation of Food and Drink in Schools 2020 regulations.
  • Working alongside your team with no supervisory responsibility.
  • Working with your team with no budgetary responsibility.

Requirements

  • Have a City & Guilds 706/2 or SVQ 2 Food Preparation and Cooking or willing to achieve qualification within 2 years.
  • Have previous experience in a similar environment and experience in a Food Preparation and cooking role.
  • Have excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work on own initiative, unsupervised, and as part of a team.
