Contract Duration: Temporary Secondment Cover until 06/03/2026 or the earlier return of the post holder.

Role Purpose

We have a temporary post which we anticipate will initially be for one year with the view to becoming permanent. We also have a permanent four day post of 28 hours available at SBO09082.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated children and families social worker to support our children and young people, and their families to ensure good outcomes are achieved. We strive to recruit workers who are passionate about working with children and young people, and their families, and assessing and supporting their strengths to move towards better outcomes.

Essential

  • Approved qualification in Social Work and registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
  • An understanding of the key issues and relevant theoretical background particularly relating to child protection and looked after children.
  • A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
