Role Purpose

Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic person to join their road maintenance team, working from the Kelso depot. The successful candidate will work as part of a team in the Roads Operation Service carrying out reactive repairs and planned maintenance on the Councils road network. This job requires the post holder to be experienced in the delivery of services throughout the year, undertaking duties relating to roads maintenance for eg. tarring works, footway works, drainage works, verge works and civic events etc. that we are involved with. The successful candidate will also be required to be rota\'d on to the summer and winter maintenance out of hours service that the Roads department provides as a Category 1 Responder

A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ 1, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards) or obtained within reasonable timescales

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
