The Playworker will, under the direction of the Senior Playworker, the Central Early Years Team and Head Teacher, work as part of a wider team, to assist with the planning and delivery of out of school hours childcare. The playworker’s core function is to create an environment which will stimulate children’s play and maximise their opportunities for a wide range of play experiences.
A skilled and experienced playworker is capable of enriching the child’s play experience both in terms of the design and resources of the physical environment and in terms of the attitudes and culture fostered within the play setting.
Scottish Borders Council operates an Out of School Clubs at Knowepark Primary School, providing care to children from 3 years old up to P7 pupils. The club is open from the end of the school day to 6pm each day during term time, and from 8 am to 6pm during holidays and in-Service days.
