Role Purpose
We’re looking for a motivated and adaptable Administration Assistant to join our Peripatetic Admin Team, providing vital emergency, ad hoc, and flexible admin support across Education, Social Work, and Infrastructure & Environment services within the Scottish Borders. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, learning new systems, and supporting different teams to deliver high‑quality public services.
You’ll step in where support is needed most, helping services run smoothly by taking on tasks such as:
- Front‑office support – managing calls, visitors, and shared inboxes
- Attendance and record keeping
- Minute taking and meeting administration
- Social Work admin tasks, including police concern and referral forms
- Sharing skills and supporting improved ways of working
You’ll also work closely with team colleagues on tasks that may include:
- Managing AllPay and client/locality funds
- Tracking and reconciling payments
- Supporting service improvement projects
This is a mobile role, and regular travel across the Scottish Borders is required. When on‑site cover isn’t needed, you’ll have the flexibility to work from home or from a local office. We plan schedules in advance wherever possible, though short‑notice changes can occur as part of the team’s responsive approach.
Essential
HNC/D in a related discipline, or other relevant qualification OR equivalent experience, knowledge and skills necessary to undertake the role.
