Role Purpose
- Support the provision of an efficient and effective service in accordance with predetermined schedules.
- Undertake a specialist role within the Service, which may include but is not restricted to Plant nursery production, maintenance of High Amenity areas, Bedding plant design/preparation and installation, Mechanical digging operations, or general roads maintenance including roads drainage, concreting, kerbing, blocking and blacktop works.
- Engage with members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner, dealing with and/or reporting issues as required.
- Ensure that work is performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the relevant risk assessment for the duties/tasks.
- Ensure that machinery, equipment, tools and vehicles are operated in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines, undertaking relevant checks, completing records as required, and ensuring that any defects are reported.
- Work collaboratively with team colleagues to ensure that work plans are achieved and quality standards are maintained.
- Complete standard reports to inform service planning and delivery, as required.
- Respond to and deal with operational problems at source, referring more complex issues to the immediate supervisor.
- Support the delivery of the Service within their allocated area team or as reasonably required anywhere across the operational area depending on the needs of the service.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency and winter operations and be on winter maintenance rotas as required.
- Deputise for the Chargehand as appropriate.

The job holder will be responsible for their area of work, working either alone or as part of a team, as required by the needs of the service. In addition to being responsible for their own performance, the job holder will be responsible for significant resources (i.e. Plant, Machinery, area of work).

Essential
- A basic education (Numeracy and literacy).
- Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ 1, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards) or obtained within reasonable timescales.
- A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
